The conservation of objects involves an understanding of numerous materials, their composition and their interaction with one another. Often, historic objects are composed of a variety of materials that respond differently to changes in temperature and relative humidity, cleaning methods and materials and other environmental conditions. Treatment of each component must be done in the context of the entire object. - including the objects non-material values. Frequently, a collaborative approach with other experts is required to achieve the most appropriate outcome.
